Can a ‘boo-curious fella come? I don’t own a fishable bamboo rod but aspire to and also aspire to build my own someday and would love to learn more about them.

Such language.. sadly, I understand it completely! Cheers!I'll probably bring 3 or 4 "flingy-dingy's" to the thingy.
I would highly recommend this gathering as there is a wealth of knowledge and I have benefited from there generous support. I’m on my 6th rod and it’s a learning experience to build a bamboo rod and I would highly recommend giving it a shot. And if there is any help I can provide let me know but no I’m no expert. I also have some culms for trout rods that you my have interest in. Just let me know if you are interested. But be warned this can be an expensive rabbit holeCan a ‘boo-curious fella come? I believe I have enough planes and hand tools, and the standard power tools (tablesaw, drill press, band saw, router table, etc), and about 8 kajillion clamps, so fingers crossed I'm just looking at purchasing components? Unless there's a specific hand plane or other tool I need? I was talking with @Kado and know I’ll need to build a wrapping machine and some planing forms, but if there are others I’m happy to look into getting or making them.I would highly recommend this gathering as there is a wealth of knowledge and I have benefited from there generous support. Good to hear, and I’d love to stop by. Got some three day weekends coming up, so maybe one of those I could swing by for a bit? The double door one is the newest build/addition to the shop. Got rid of the peg board. You're way ahead of the game starting with that shop cabinet full of tools. If you are near Redmond stop in some time.

I’m fortunate to have an uncle who likes the idea of having a wood shop and lets me take it over. No space in my house/garage.Awesome woodworking set up!
The choice of cherry and maple wood along with the dove tail joinery and French cleats make this a piece of art. It looks to me like you have all the skills necessary to build a bamboo fly rod from scratch. Everything looks well cared for.I believe I have enough planes and hand tools, and the standard power tools (tablesaw, drill press, band saw, router table, etc), and about 8 kajillion clamps, so fingers crossed I'm just looking at purchasing components? I'd love to tour anyone's rod building stations/setups if they're up for it.
I appreciate the kind words. You must do some woodworking, too?The choice of cherry and maple wood along with the dove tail joinery and French cleats make this a piece of art. Just need a plane.. and a few thousand dollars of tools.. you can do it!! Lol!!I appreciate the kind words. You must do some woodworking, too?
As I proved last(?) year apparently I have the skills to turn $200 of Tonkin cane into toothpicks. Bit of a learning curve I look forward to flattening.
I don't know that taper specifically but sure someone here will..I am looking at building a Goodwin Granger Deluxe 7’ 4wt taper (not scalloped or hollow) because I *believe* it’s the one my grandfather fished and my uncle took when he passed. Can’t verify because I don’t have access to the rod. Is that a good taper?
