I took my Granger 8642 and some Enos Bradner flies (carey specials and carrot nymphs) to a cutthroat pond today. April and May are great times to be on the low elevation ponds before they warm up too much. This pond is 50 minutes drive from my house. A sketchy trail through forest and logging slash but we found our way.

The wood shelter at the pond has collapsed to a broken down mass of logs. Amazing what wind and wet can do.

We found the fish on intermediate lines and olive careys or peacock careys twitched along the shore.

Healthy fish for a small pond!

Tea brewed with a Kelly Kettle and then it was time to head home.

We saw a black bear with a cub, a coyote and noone else all day. Will be back next spring.

You have some nice kickboat sized small lakes & beaver ponds scoped out. I always enjoy your little outings & thanks for sharing the pictures and trip details.
