Bamboo and bull trout

When the snow hits Whitehorse Mountain it's time to grab my 9' 7 weight Phillipson, Farlows President reel, a 15' sink tip line and a streamer wallet and start looking for bull trout. Hard work busting the brush to the river..



A very slow day but I managed to land one bull trout in a soft tailout on an Alaskan Mary Ann tied on a long shank streamer hook.



Spent yesterday restocking my streamer wallet. I think the Gierach Special has potential for bull trout. Couldn't resist dressing the pattern up a little with jungle cock as opposed to painted eyes...

Nicely done. Does the peacock fibers get tore up after hooking a fish?

They can but are surprisingly resilient. I've used them to top wings on magog smelt streamers and supervisor streamers and the peacock herl lasts about as long as the wings. It's way easier to get it to sit on top of a hairwing as opposed to the very narrow top of a hackle wing.
