Usually I think in terms of “Sept-ober” as the best month of fishing each year. But this year, “Aug-tember” was pretty darn good. I mainly fished along a single highway, working from near the bottom to beyond the end of the road.
I did both lake fishing and stream fishing, in a lot of different environs, with a good set of buddies at each different spot.
Overall, the fishing has been great. Both lakes and rivers. We caught some real meat-eaters. I also caught a fine coho off a beach on Whidbey this month.
Garbage karma opportunities were outstanding. For me, a good goal is to pick up 10,000X the weight of what I lose each day, and perhaps ~100X the length of line I lose. This will do nothing but great things in your relationship with the fish gods.
