Are fajitas the official food of fishing trips?

Pure bullshit, DC! More good steaks have been ruined by wannabee grillmasters that either cremated the meat or served it raw. Everybody thinks they can do a perfect steak on the grill but with sous vide I can cook to exactly 133 degrees, sear in HOT cast iron for 60 seconds on a side and have repeatable perfection.

The French have set the world standard for cuisine since the middle ages, about the time the first settlers appeared in this country and started their rudimentary efforts to emulate what they ate back in their homeland. American cooking is kind of an oxymoron in that most of it's influences come from somewhere else. France, China, Africa, Eastern Europe, Spain, Southeast Asia, etc. If any one cooking discipline can be attributed to America it would probably be fast food. The land of burgers and hot dogs-and surprisingly-French Fries!

I'm aware of this. Basically about everything I've posted in this thread has been for humour value. I love the French. I love French food. Let me enjoy playing an uncouth American road kill eater. And may I add that I honour the French when I eat my pigeon fajitas by referring to the raw ingredient as "squab" and thus my culinary creation the "squaco".

They gotta be at the top no? I mean, what else can compete with some meat, veggies and other shit stuffed into a wrap?

And tonight I had the pleasure to experience fajitas at Chili’s in Helena, MT. World class cuisine.

So good.
Burritos are at the top for me. For all the reasons you love fajitas, but add in you wrap them in foil and can easily throw them in a pack. Unwrap, take a few bites and wrap it back up and put it away for if you're hungry later.

True. Best steaks I have ever made came from a sous vide and cast iron skillet.
Yep, there's a reason many high-end restaurants have been utilizing the method for years. It's accurate and easily repeatable.

Ok…I was on a wheeling trip with a buddy many years ago…we decided to camp at a high alpine meadow in the Sierra’s…we set up camp, and he began to start his dinner prep, which was wrapping a burrito in foil and depositing on his very warm manifold. I proceeded to pull out a giant ribeye, liberally douse it with Hawaiian salt and fresh ground pepper, and throw it on my grill…ditto with preskewered veggies, both which I shared with him. The next morning we broke camp and continued wheeling in the mountains. An hour on the trail and my buddy pulls over as he notices smoke coming from under his hood…it was his forgotten burrito…

Great. Now I want to try this French sack cooking method. Can I do it in a leather hormone free bag or is estrogen leaking plastic my only option?

I used to do this with canned food on the way to the put in in winter. Nothing like hot stuff on a cold day. Drive smoothly.

The Fort in Big Timber...where you can buy a bottle of liquor and a gun. The ultimate one stop shop.

Not sure why but that shop always reminds me of DBT's

Interesting choice. One of my homey Stroker Ace's best songs. And maybe the darkest.

Me and you, we liked our pills and our whiskey
But you don't want your head full of either one when the house gets quiet and dark

Who tf just takes one bite of a burrito?
I didnt think my kid would be able to get an account on pnwff but she’s currently the only person I believe to be capable of only eating one bite of a delicious burrito and then “put it away”

Oh, man... old army trick. we used to do that with C rats and then later MRE's on our wheeled fleet . Could do it with our tracks too but was a bit more.....complicated

Then there's the infamous Beanie Weenie or Vienna Sausage on the Yukon Stove or fuel fired heater exhaust elbow... when forgotten about, wakes up the whole field camp when it explores at 2:30 in the morning.....

Fishing refreshments/eats are…
Trail mix (has to be salty n sweet - chocolate), sliced summer sausage, assorted sliced cheeses, salty crackers, ice cold beer, and a fine cigar…all consumed under a shade tree stream-side. It’s my mid-day break from the action tradition. Good Fishing Karma too. 😉
