Aquatic vegetation

What is happening to aquatic plants in our Western Wa. lakes this year?
It seems like aquatic vegetation such as Bullrushes, Rushes and Cattails in every lake that I have fished are significantly depleted or completely missing.
Any biologists in our community that can shed some insight on what could be happening.

On the lake I live on the vegetation in Renton is thriving just fine.

But the weed in poor old Leech Lake is not.

Are the lakes you're talking about in some kind of drought condition? Water receding? Basin lakes have the opposite problem; many are being ringed to death with phragmites (Lenice, Nunnally and a few secret ones....).
