Anyone wanna go to Christmas island next winter?

I'm in the beginning stages of looking for people to go with me to Christmas Island next winter
Time fame will be late Jan or Early Feb. Approximate cost for 6 days lodging and guided fishing $3500
Actual dates and pricing will be determined after this year's trip.

Christmas Island is a very large Atoll in the Pacific south of Hawaii. It's waters Host world class Bonefish, trigger fish and Giant Travalle. Fishing is done via wading sand and coral flats.

You tube a couple videos on fishing the island and if it looks fun shoot me a PM.

Warning. You'll have to put up with a self deprecating Gen C movie quoter who thinks he's funny.
 
That's actually not as expensive as I'd expect it to be
 
It's the plane tickets that push the cost up. One airline.

Edit: I don't want to give the impression the Xmas Island is not a good deal (I have not been there). Just keep in mind you will probably need to add $1500 - $1900 for the flights.

Yeah I've seen some of these destination trips push up to the $8-10k mark. So any time I see it come in below $5 I'm pleasantly surprised.
 
I do like to fish for bonefish and haven't been in quite a while now. I liked the Bahamas; I thought this would cost more than the Bahamas.

I am not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but I have been taking groups to Christmas Island for the past 20 years, and the average cost "all in" is closer to $6,500 - $7,000 these days. This is still a bargain compared to a lot of places, and I highly recommend the experience, but one should go in with realistic expectations.

Never been but relating a friend’s experiences: Hotel in Hawaii overnight, warm water fly lines, rod(s), clothing, flies, tips.

Yes, $6,500 - $7,500 total for Honolulu flights, CXI flights, outfitter's cost, CXI fishing license, backcountry access fee, cash tips, Honolulu hotel, Honolulu meals, and Honolulu taxis.

This amount does not include costs for saltwater fly rods (7, 8, 10, 12 wt), matching reels, backing, tropical fly lines, tippets, fly packages, polarized glasses, proper flats boots, submersible packs, pliers, gloves, proper flats clothing, etc... Borrowing equipment helps, but these items adds substantial $$$ to the upfront trip cost for first time flats anglers.

Another thing to consider is fishing there for 2 weeks instead of one. It adds another $3,500, but it is really worth it considering all the effort it takes to properly prepare and reach the place. Finally, not all lodges and guide operators on CXI are equal. Do your homework before committing to one so you get the most out of your trip.

That's why I said the cost was lodging and guided fishing :)

or do a combo CXI/Fanning trip. That is on my list.
 
Hell ya! If I can afford it, I'm down! I have most of the required rods. And some exciting job opportunities to fund it. Sale with RNDC! And others.
 
Just returned from CXI. did 1 week with fly water travel at Sunset Lodge. Still traveling home but i would concur with 'chiefs' $ #'s. when i do it again, i am most likely going for 2 wks - for all the reasons. i dont have the $ amounts in front of me, but if anyone wants specifics i can have that when i get home in about a week.

I have a friend in Singapore, who could get a deal as well.. some may know him, unless that's his company.. An Ren Tan, he worked at and ran Patricks for while.

How many people are you looking for? I have maybe me + 4.. they're all very cool people!
