Hey all.
Due to the generosity, of an older gentleman, who has aged out of the Pontoon scene, I am the new owner of a well maintained, used, Outcast, Fish Cat 9, not the 9IR. I have a few question(s), for any current/former owner(s), of the Fish Cat 9 or the Fish Cat 9IR. Please keep in mind, I have never owned a pontoon boat before so I am learning as I go.
#1 - I am thinking of upgrading the seat to a padded version. Outcast has a padded seat at $130.00. Bucks Bags has one at $75.00. Walmart has one at $60.00. They all appear to be very, very similar. What is it I need to look for, in order to make sure a seat and/or the seat base, is compatible, with my Fish Cat 9? Bucks Bags and Outcast don't show a picture, of the bottom of the seat. Thus, I can not see a bolt pattern on their models.
The current seat on my boat is unpadded and is plastic. It has (4), 3.5 inch-ish, threaded, bolts that fit a MP6-1.0 Wing Nut. The bolt head goes through the seat base and then through the frame. The bolt is secured to the frame, underneath the boat, by a knob which screws onto the bolt threads. I think officially this is called a Female Thread M6 Seven Star Shaped Head Clamping Nut/Knob with through threads.
The top of the M6 - 1.0 bolt fits into a recess, in the top of the seat. The head is covered with a pop in, plastic, rounded cover/cap. I think this is to keep the bolt head from abrading your butt.
# 2 - The oars that came with the boat, are Breakdown oars at 6 feet 4 inches in length. Which do you folks like better, the 6 feet breakdown oars or the 7 feet breakdown oars and why?
Thank you for any and all help.
Bob
