NFR Any Entomologists to ID this thing?

It’s non aquatic as far as I know. I found it perched on the end of this log while we were on a walk in a park near Lake Washington.

Maybe it's a common species, but I’ve never seen one like it. About 2” long overall.

Anyone know what it is?

Thanks @Zak ! That was fast!

I was concerned that it might have been one of those non native introduced critters that destroy our forests. I was pleased to read in that article that it is indeed a native, and it belongs here.

I've encountered two of these, one in my backyard and the other on the bank of the Deschutes, so I assume they.re on both sides of the state.
 
It’s a rather striking bug, much more so in real life than in my cell phone photo. I think those that have seen one won’t forget it.
