Antique Mall Find

I’ve driven past this rummage sale/antique store a hundred times and always wondered if any gems were hidden inside. So, this time I had a little time to kill and pulled over. As expected it was mostly junk, but as they say one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Amongst dozens of tattered gear rods and reels peppered throughout the store I found a tiny treasure.

a Hardy Saint George 2 9/16”

I’d love any info that can be provided
The inner workings are pristine
Aluminum notched foot
Nickel line guide
Two screw drum latch cover
Straight script
The “black” on spool seem soft and more paint like than any perfect I’ve payed my hands on. The “spitfire” spool latch side seems like the paint/enamel was removed.

All this tells me post 1950 (discontinued 1963)

I don’t fish a lot of small water but this little reel makes me want to.

Nice find!! Someone loved that reel, would make for a fun little screamer.

I once bought an early 1930's Hardy Perfect at a local junktiques store where the owner actually focused on fishing gear but said he hated all things "Hardy" preferring the old Pflueger Bulldog reels for himself, so he sold the Perfect for a bargain price. Any day you find a good condition high quality Hardy reel at a local junktiques store for cheap is a great day. Congrats!
