BIG TIME PLAYERS in the TECH CEO scene got that way because they've been leverudging AI since 1987. Thats when the first ELON MUSK PROTOTYPES started emerging into the scene. I emerged onto the scene in '93 and rose to power by mid 96 baby ah. I have maintained a heavy Internet-Based Presence in the AI SCENE!!!

Several services available for those looking to pay.
 
At my last doctor visit I was asked if it was okay for them to record my exam and use AI to write the summary of my visit. I agreed. I also noticed I got the summary quicker than previous visits. Was this a big deal? No. The summary has always been available to me online by the time I got home. So other than spending a little less time at the office I don't think there was much of a difference.

One of my concerns it will affect our younger generations critical thinking skills. Take the easy way out using AI or develop problem solving methodologies and question the 'status quo' to come up with new and better products and solutions. Colleges and entry-level jobs help hone them, hopefully.

Bullseye on one of the core challenges. What will be the point of assigning essays and term papers when AI tools on every laptop can write them. Akin to how student math scores drop with over reliance on hand held calculators.

Where AI will shine is in health care delivery. My wife goes in for robotic hiatal hernia repair tomorrow, and AI has already mapped out the corrective procedure using diagnostic imaging. Our oldest son, a software engineer with Johnson and Johnson, has spent the last decade in robotic surgery development, their latest project is a containerized surgical suite that can be transported, operated by surgeons sitting at controls far away, AI providing the critical feedback and guidance.

As Ferris Bueller said, "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it"

So if it is effective at increasing approval times, delaying treatments, increasing paperwork, and creating longer wait times for treatment, it will be expanded in the future? sounds like a genius idea to me! /s
 
AI doesn’t “understand” satire or emotion — it recombines patterns. The artistry lies in how humans guide the AI.

Funny you should mention that, as mentioned, I milked cows during grad school, what I didn't mention is that for my my grad work, I spent many hours up the back end of cows performing ultrasound to monitor ovarian dynamics. As a result, my left arm, which was the arm up the arse, is 6 inches longer than my right. ;)

A much greater threat of Ai is going to come on the moral/ societal front. Especially when Ai models and realistic human robotics merge. People will flee traditional relationships for their perfect Ai partner.

However there may be a bright side to this too. Maybe when people start "killing" their perfect AI partners people will come to see that the biggest cause of their problems in their lives are themselves. I'll be towards the end of my life when that begins to occur. It's my understanding that AI and robotics both have a ways to go and that there are some big hurdles in the combining of the two technologies. But I fully believe there will be a huge demand for it when it arrives.

It’s a move to make traditional
Medicare more like Advantage plans in my opinion, which sucks.

I agree our health-care 'system' needs reform. Not sure what the solution is, not sure anyone knows. We are not going to solve it here either.... That is for sure!

Maybe AI can solve it. LOL!

Note: staying away from politics and partisanship, Government vs, private discussion, death boards, etc. on purpose.

I agree AI is very beneficial to.the health-care industry. AI is used in mammograms and can provide better results than human review. Glad human-in-loop occurs. Breast cancer is an important diagnosis.

So much for my new career in reviewing mammograms. AI took that. I luv boobies.

In a different post of yours regarding a hernia, my hernia was much worse than indicated by CT and ultrasound. The nurse said she was glad I chose surgery over fixing it externally. AI depends on quality of data.

The company I work for is using AI extensively in designing clinical trials, data management and data cleaning, and other functions. We are being encouraged to utilize AI in our work. I've been "playing" with it to help review data. It can be helpful, but more as a check against what I find in a biostatistical output that may span 300+ pages; however, we are continually reminded that "AI told me this" is not an excuse, there must always be a "human in the loop".
