Found in the Russian River from late February to early May. The larva and pupae are found on the sides and tops of stones. They are usually found in a moderate flow.

If you are in to rock collecting on the beach where the Russian flows into the ocean is a good spot to find glaucophane schist. Its a blue rock speckled with red garnets. I still have a piece I found there in the mid 80s. There is a large boulder of it next to the highway.

There are patches of that around Mill Creek (tributary to Russian River) also. I have several large pieces that I found in the creek.
