SFR Adding a new dog to the pack?

Sorta fishing-related
You ought to see my Granddaughters Pit bull mix play with our Chihuahua. That little ankle biter puts that big dog in it's place. It's funny but one bite from the big girl and it would be all over for her.

My friend had a Boston terrier and a huge malamute. One of my friends suspected the malamute was a wolf hybrid. The big dog was scared of the terrier. It was hilarious. That said, I was scared of the terrier too; it was an evil little fucker.

I have had two plus Goldens for 20 yrs.
Reason is I breed them and I can't always be with them all the time.
IMHO dogs need dog buddies as well as people buddies.

Our first dog (lab/shepherd mix) stayed home of course while we were both working. He’d get bored, find something to do, sometimes not good. Liz thought a 2nd dog in order so we found another lab mix. Didn’t work so well. Second dog wouldn’t let us pet #1 without coming between, and they turned a nice yard into a motocross track. Dug holes deep enough they could hide in. YMMV

This is definitely something that 2 dogs do that I havent seen with just one. The 2 dogs would follow each other on perimeter patrols, stepping in each others footprints. Over time this wore a trail through the grass that looped around the property.

When they were young labs we called it the trail of tears. Missing a shoe? Bew headphones? Go check the trail. Dry your tears.

Cisco (dog 1 above) was a marvelous pet. Looked mostly like a Yellow, but had those Shepherd (protective) traits. That was 25 years ago and we still hold him high. Thankfully we found another home for Pancho. And then I spent a week with rototiller, importing soil and planting a new lawn.
