Dodged some rain today on a way trail through the woods to fish a small low elevation lake.

Tools of the trade for the backpacking lake fisherman. A wilderness lite. Chest fly vest, Phillipson Power Pakt 8'6" 5 weight bamboo rod, Farlows Grenaby loaded with slow sinking line and some classic irish wet flies.

Casting to the edge of the sphagnum bog was effective...

Bob Heirman once took a 4.5 pound cutt from this lake and he landed another 15 year old cutt which might have been 8 pounds in its prime. Our fish were smaller but still fun. A golden olive bumble on the dropper was the popular fly.
