A Very Thankful Thursday

The last year and a half has presented me with some difficult times, but I am still thankful for all the good in my life. I am grateful (lucky) to be alive, to have amazing and generous friends and to live in a place with an abundance of fishing, hunting and shooting opportunities near by. Today was a day to remember and reminded me to be thankful for what I have.

The temperature here is going to drop dramatically starting on Saturday, with the “highs” being below freezing. When I looked outside and saw no wind and the back porch thermometer read 40 degrees around noon, that little voice in my head was loud and clear. So I tossed the Cruzer in the truck and was on the water around 12:30. It was no surprise I had the lake all to myself and spent the first 30-40 minutes trying to locate some fish. It’s crazy how fish will sometimes be in places that you think wouldn’t hold fish, but that’s what makes it fun, right?
Once I figured out where they were hiding, it was very consistent for a little over an hour. All were quality fish with some 18+. The takes were very subtle, but once hooked up, they fought like crazy and a couple went airborne. At about 2:30 my toes were getting cold (water temp was 38) so I headed back home, happy and thankful for a wonderful day on the water.

A beautiful November day in the Rockies.

SM - that first fish could almost be a humpy pink rainbow thing! Nicely done!

Looking forward to having you show me the way to LB this spring.
That’s the first thing I thought when I saw it in the net, “Is that a humpy?” 😆

Very nice, Islander. Nice way to end(?) the year.
I’m pretty sure it’s the end of “lake season” for me this year. A week of below freezing temps should ice over most stillwater. I do have a couple rivers nearby that don’t freeze over during the winter, so I’ll be hammering away at those when the suns out, trying to figure out a totally different game. 😆

You’re following the MEW’s advice to the hilt…

Nicely done, for me i feel like the fish i catch when the water temps hit the low to mid 40's the fish don't fight as hard . Glad they had some fight in them for ya...
