A VERY HAPPY DAY!!

My 1951 Hotrod truck finally came home today!! (y) (y) (y) Drives a lot better than before, now I just have to get the front end aligned, along with the driveshaft pinion angle set then look out!! :eek:πŸ€ͺ I pushed the electronic noise maker button a few times coming home from the shop! πŸ™Š Feels like I’m 50 again! As I mentioned before…I haven’t driven it since I was 21….. I had CCR blasting on the CD player….almost an 8 track by today’s standards. New pictures to follow shortly. So let’s see your classic cars, toys or anything fun that you drive!
My buddy BST gave me a ride to the shop, so he’s the first to take a quick rip around Burien! He thought it’s fast….I can’t get on it until a few more things are done…..”Sit down, shut up and hang on!”

Come on people…..let’s see some pictures! Check out this t-shirt I wore to pick up my pick up! And here’s the Hotrod in 1974 when I was a senior at Mt Rainier high school, the school paper called the Ram’s Horn. Who’s that long haired good looking young guy leaning on my ride??

That's a lot of hair!
Geez...Mt Rainier HS....I got my ass kicked by the Mt Rainier HS 115 lb wrestler back in '78. Those were great times though.

I hate to rain on my own parade but…..MY HOTROD ATE ANOTHER TRANSMISSION!!?? The tranny shop owner said that they made the driveshaft about 2” too short. It isn’t going into the tailshaft of the tranny far enough and creating the vibration. When he dropped the tranny oil pan there was 13 of 17 tabs from the case along with brass shavings. Unbelievable. Are the hot rod gods mad at me?? I haven’t driven the truck more than maybe 50 or so miles total. Out of frickin patience! And money!

It does sound like a "them problem."

Wow. That went from a happy day to sad day in short order. Too bad Steve about your transmission. I hope it gets resolved for you.

Maybe take it to a different shop after it gets fixed and have an independent set of eyes do a thorough review including setting driveshaft pinion angle and the alignment set?

I've got a '55 Chevy wagon that my grandfather purchased new in 55'. Bone stock, original paint, interior, etc. It hadn't ran since 1987 when I inherited it in 2021.

Grandpa always said he wanted to be buried in his wagon, this is the best we could do.

And I'm now in the middle of resto-modding this heap. 51' Chevy 5 window. Picked it up about a year ago. I've got a 6.0l LS that I fully tore down and rebuilt for it, and am in the process of swapping it all onto a 2001 S10 chassis. Got the suspension in yesterday. Still a couple years out on getting it road worthy. Going to keep the dents and original paint with patina, but have it drive like a more modern vehicle.

That is a sweeet 210, 265 and PG? Those were unicorns in my tri-5 days (69-72). Had a 55 2-door HT with an L79 built by the guy who built Grumpy Jenkins engines. Close ratio M21 with 4:56 rear end, ate a lot of big blocks in PDX and Vantuckey. Would’ve been nice to have something like Tremec 6-speed, it was turning around 4000 rpm at 55 iirc 😁

Bad ass lead sled, likely a Merc? Love those Chevy's..that 55' is awesome. Surfing friend in Santa Cruz has had his grandfathers 55' panel wagon for decades. It had been used for deliveries around town until his grandfather retired, sold his small neighborhood market, and gifted the panel to his grandson. Fully refreshed it remains his pride and joy.

My personal fave was a 62' Carryall 4x4 I owned for a decade, 283 and granny low four speed, took it on two surf trips from Half Moon Bay to the lower west coast of Baja and back before MEX 1 went all the way down. Fun times.

Have always been a Suburban/Tahoe guy, now on my 6th, took me a year to find the 2014 LTZ I wanted, last and best year of my fave body style, pampered with under 50K.

Not quite happy…..Burning up some nice cruzin weather waiting for the shop to put in another turbo 400 transmission……third one my truck ate. Almost thinking I shoulda kept the six speed manual that came with the donor Camaro……not! I definitely wanted an automatic for creature comfort. This better be the last one. Having my bad ass toy sitting in my garage and still not getting to play with it SUCKS!!
