A Steffen Bros. In The Desert

I spent the past two days exploring a dry side lake system; some of them small and shallow, others rather the opposite.

I'd planned on mostly fishing an intermediate line, but cleverly only brought the spare spool with fast sink and left the reel itself safely at home. Fortunately I had also brought along a Steffen 7'3" 3/4 to dink around with if there was any surface action. The smaller lakes get hit by the power bait crowd and I only managed a few, but day two at the main lake was pretty good. For about 45 minutes toward the end of the day I worked the brush line along the shore and found a fish every 20' or so. I finished up prowling the rockslide and found what I was hoping for.

Nice report!

Steffens belong on the flats, in the rain forest, out on open ocean, but especially in the desert!
