Took my Sharpes 88 6 weight bamboo rod to a windy kittitas county high lake. Summit Chief and Chimney rock are still snow clad.

Managed a grand slam fishing size 10-12 olive, black or self-bodied carey specials on a full sinking or intermediate line. Many browns...

Many rainbows...

A few brook trout...

And 1 cutthroat off the mouth of a cold water tributary...

A kokanee would have made it a royal flush. I've caught them in this lake but not today. Sunny weather but the water was pleasantly cool and the fish were active all day.

The browns in this particular alpine lake are naturally reproducing descendants of some original stocking which was done years ago. I caught several different age classes so they must be thriving. WDFW stocked browns in Rock Lake in the Alpine Lakes wilderness to try to keep the overabundant population of brook trout in check but the stocking was discontinued and I think the browns died out.

Looks like you had a great day. I'm leaning toward getting out for a quick overnight trip and this lake has been on the list for a while. Maybe I'll make it next weekend.
