A bit more on the "tough" conditions today. Today, the smoke and waves shortened the distance from first sighting a fish. I stand on the center thwart straddling the boat seat - this gets my eyes about 7-feet above the lake surface. Great when you can spot the fish 40 or 50 or 60 feet away. Not so great when that distance is 20 feet - I don't know how many fish I spooked today raising my casting arm. Oh, the ripple effect: one carp spooks and it spooks all the others. Rant over. It's fishing.
