A little lake on the back of Rainier

A couple Fridays ago I took off to camp an extra day before the family all met up closer to Rainier. With mine and the parents’ pooch I chose a lake driveable for ease on the two 10 year old dogs. It also had a Tiger Trout plant I was unaware of and was hoping they’d be big. The drive up was pleasant, and recently graded.

Ended up parking 100 yards away and did trips on the trail to camp near the lake. What a beauty! The trash cans were unfortunate, gloves on, poop tissues removed and relatched. Who the f*** does that?!

Dogs tuckered out, campsite was setup, onto fishing.

The water was wonderful and the afternoon was filled with brookies of 7-8 in.

Then switching to dark weighted leech patterns a couple tigers showed up. They weren’t of the size ready to eat the brookies but rather their fry. Oh well, beautiful fish and success continued the first day with 12 fish landed, 3 being tigers.

Next morning the beagle was being annoying on the bank so he won a spot on the back 😁 Confined to a small space he was calmer on it than the drift boat.

Found a cement foundation on one end of the lake that has no road. Shuttled the dogs, got out and explored.

Packed up and headed out to be greeted just around the corner with some elk butts. Slowed down, fumbled the phone to grab a shot at the last second.

My fishing itch was scratched and the pre-camp spot a success!
