… from the left coast. Firstly, the ocean is on you’re right if you’re facing north; how weird is that? It is also not near as rugged, and generally far more developed and crowded, yet, it certainly has its beauty. I have always been partial to sunrise over sunset (I am awake for sunrise, so that helps). Sunrise from Cape Hatteras:

Gulls then appear to land on the splashdown pelican - watched this happen repeatedly - very cool:

Miss you already. Planning a trip to Bend in a few weeks, and will have to visit the Lady M all on my lonesome.

I'll miss fishing with you Phil, didn't get out enough with you, especially over the last couple of years. Have a great visit with the Lady M, I'm sure she will be usual fickle self, but hopefully give up some of her pleasures to you. I'll be there in spirit.

cheers

Nice thing about Hatteras Island is both sunrise and sunset are over the water.

... and for most of the island, easily walk one side to the other - did it the other night for moonrise, then sunset.

Excellent photos! I look forward to hearing of your exploration of the area.

I was on the east coast for about 18 months. I was stationed at Fort Eustis. it isn't there anymore. It was about 10 miles north of Newport News, Virginia. Yes it is very different. Enjoyed it a little was far from home and I was just 19 years old.
