Took my Granger 8040 4 weight bamboo rod to a cascade foothills pond yesterday for a season ending trip. The leaves have turned. @Mike Monsos, how do you like the hat?

The water was so cold my son and I had to come off early to warm up over coffee. Plenty of wild cutts.

We did well with Golden Olive and Mallard and Claret wet flies. One more week and then it will be time to chase bull trout...

I would like to comment on the images. They are most impressive. The first one especially.
I have spent many hours "critiquing" images. It only took me a moment to recognize this image as a very special one. I could go on about balance, depth of field, action flow etc.. but this image "grabs " the viewer in a very profound way. And that is very very rare.

I remember a bat that flies around at that pond during the daytime. It was freaking us out a little bit last time we fished it.

I agree on the photo quality… well done Dave.

No bats this trip but a bright kingfisher chattered and zipped around the pond. Wish i could take credit for the pics but the best ones were taken by my son. :)
