Impressive list and detailed record keeping. Mostly impressed with your skill limiting trumpetfish hookups. Got sick of those things real quick on my first trip to Baja.

Mine goes something like

Days Fished: 20-25-ish
Most Fished Freshwater/Method/Flies: SWW CR Trib pocket water / Dry line nymphing / Shrimp imitations.
Most Fished Saltwater/Method/Flies: Westport WA Offshore / Sinking lines / Squid imitations.

Freshwater:
1 wild rainbow (likely juvenile steelhead)
Dozen or so dark hatchery chinook
3 bright hatchery coho, 2 bright wild coho (hooked lost 3X that)

Saltwater:
Dozen or so albacore tuna

No

Gonna have to start carrying one of these.
I have some of those stashed away somewhere. I used them when doing spawning surveys, and they were very handy.

Nope. I fish just for fun and am not interested in data collection. I also probably have the poorest photo collection of fish caught as well. I don't keep close track of the fish I catch, but so far, I haven't forgotten what a fish looks like. And when the time comes that I do forget, well hell, it ain't gonna' matter then.

Wow, I thought I kept a decent log. This is another level!

I'll play with the stuff I know or keep track of...

Saltwater Fish Caught: None this year, except salty pinks in the Duw.

Toughest lost fish moment: Friggin musky that I've missed 2 years in a row! I know where you live jerk!

I don't keep much of a count all that often....so here are a few highlights:

most fun fishery: the one I'm currently fishing
largest fish: the one I just caught
smallest fish: the one I just caught
most exotic location: the place I'm currently at
the most top secret location fished: fuck you, go find your own.

A few years ago I was using an app called WeFish. I think the developers were based out of Portugal which led to a large European user base. You basically uploaded a pic of the fish you caught along with some metadata (some of which could be parsed from photo metadata). It had some cool analytics that it gave (but never as an annual "wrapped" thing).

It just disappeared one day. I guess the company went under. I've been kicking around the idea of making something similar for my own personal uses. Just a little flask web app or something.

Anyways, I think it's really cool that you all have been keeping track of things yourself. I haven't but maybe I will in 2026.

I used to use excel, but the last 5 years just a basic word doc that I fill out within a few days of each trip. Date, Waterbody, Weather, Group (if I fished with others), Fish count & species, and Summary. I try to add any notes for that might help for my next trip. Also capture notes that will be helpful if fishing the same weather/month in future years. When I fish new lakes I usually include a satellite screenshot with notes about the hotspots on the lake for future reference.
