You can see the priorities of the wdfw by looking at their published posts in social media, which isn't allowed to be commented on by the way due to the fact they get drug constantly for being out of touch and can't handle any dissent or questions. They are moving away from the hook and bullet crowd. And to some degree inclusion of other use groups is healthy and welcomed. Conservation isn't only a vestige of sporting groups. It's just that these priorities seem to be a shift rather than a broadening of scope. I mean the regs don't get printed in a timely manners but that logo on their social media is on point on the first of the month for pride month. Again, no knock on inclusion and broadening user group interests but not baking the cake and serving a bunch of frosting is the cart before the horse. Do your primary function then get the extra curricular stuff done. This is not showing up to the final but being there for the class pizza party. This is why I essentially view the wdfw as an irrelevant at worse or ineffective organization at best. Priorities are the frosting and not the cake. That's going to hurt all wildlife use groups in the end with the exception of their new besties in the don't touch or even go there crowd. Bird watching is cool and I'm a fan myself but if that's all your offering cause the rest is hard you're a failed organization.

Spot on. I've been saying that ever since Kelly Susewind came to WDFW from DOE that his goal is to model WDFW into a fish and wildlife habitat petting zoo, without any actual petting allowed. Incrementally he's getting there, managing toward irrelevance.

He is a saint compared to some of our commissioners.

Look at cougar hunting. No changes in harvest last several years and certainly no decline in the population. Suse says roll it forward for 2024.

Some of our commission says hold up and throw a fit. 2024 regulations don't have a cougar season in them😡

The app was showing it open last winter. I did some digging and it looked like I could fish for perch and panfish and be reasonably legal. I’m only fishing with my 3 year old because he is dying to get out. We didn’t catch a thing fishing worms off a bobber so it seems like there isn’t much lake activity near the shore in the colder winter months. Fishing wasn’t the priority, obviously.
