1rst Fish on new rod

Greg Price

Steelhead
I purchased a new 2wt this year from Gig Harbor Fly shop.

It's main objective is to introduce small stream, small fish, small rods to friends.

Found a nice used Ross Rythem reel from seller in Japan.

Purchased line from Creekside in Issaqush.

All worked great. Very happy with the way it casts.

Here is the first fish landed on new setup.

It was swimming in an urban stream and was dumb enough to attack my dry fly. 7 inch native cutthroat.

Nice fish! Bet we bought Sage rods from the same fella in Japan. My experience with him and the rod were top notch. I found it interesting that a rod from Japan can be shipped to my door for 25 bucks! I bought an excellent Sage SLT to replace my fav rod that I broke last year. The SLT feels like an old friend! (not meaning to hijack your 1rst fish post).

So cool. I was nervous of ordering from Japan. But reel got here within days and was exactly as he described it. He had a video of it showing all angles. I would buy more used fly gear from him if I want need anything. I think I kept his receipt so I can look for other used gear

Hard to beat that first fish on a new setup feel. How fun.
