12ga pump shopping

I have an old Ithaca 20ga (bought in 1977) with modified choke. It can’t be threaded for interchangeable chokes as the barrel is too thin. So you might check on that before you buy one. Ithaca is still in business and you can buy new barrels with changeable chokes.
Yeah I doubt I'll end up with it. Don't need two guns that do the same thing... Yet

16 bore ammo can be hard to find in given shot sizes. I reload my 16’s in whatever I want. If you still brew we could make a trade…just saying…
I haven't brewed in over 10yrs ☹️ drinking one or two beers a month on average so probably won't start again any time soon.

Picked up my BPS yesterday! Was pleasantly surprised how much nicer it was in person vs the photos. Turns out the shop selling it is bad at product photos. I live just a couple miles (maybe a 5min drive) from the Portland Gun Club and hope to get down there in the coming weeks to shoot some clays. They're only open 3 days a week so need the weather to cooperate for me.

If PGC doesn’t work out might also consider Mid Valley Clays between Woodburn and Brooks. It’s a great place to practice

The barrel will indicate if the chokes are Invector (most likely) or Invector +. Did it come with any chokes and wrench?

It did not come with a wrench but I ordered one yesterday because I was too lazy to go to another store while I was out. Should be here tomorrow. But it's the standard Invector. I want to pull the choke that is in it out to confirm it's the Modified choke they said it had before I order the others.

One is 5mins away and one's an hour. I'll make it work ;)

Several friends of mine are members and I'll be joining up most likely next time I meet them all there.

What I really need is a good place for long range/handgun practice besides my friend's house/property. Not many options within an hour of me.

trading my Wingmaster and a $100 in the mid 70's for a Browning A-5 turned out to be a stellar move, never went back to a pump after that.
My dad had a pair of Browning A5’s that he used in the 70’s for all upland and waterfowl hunting…except for geese, for which he used an Ithaca 10ga mag…it was like a howitzer that could take geese out to 80 yards

In which case I'll make a real good deal on my old Winchester field grade sxs 16 ga. that I'll never use again.
That 24 would make an excellent Pheasant gun, depending on what it's choked for.

For reasons unknown, I always thought it was full choke, but read recently that the 28" were commonly full on one side and modified on the other. I need to find someone who can take it apart - I never have - and look at the markings on the underside to determine just what they are. You might guess I was never a sophisticated shotgunner.

Sounds about right. I'm fortunate to have a 21 ( two barrel set), in 12 gauge. I passed up on an opportunity to grab a 24 in 20 gauge and still regret it. I always liked the 'quirkiness' of the 16

IIRC, there are two screws on the bottom of the forearm. Remove them and the forearm…

There are, and I did that. But there is a next step to removing the front half (the barrels) from the break action to see the underside where the choke markings are. I've never needed to do anything like that, so haven't figured it out.
