Always a fun game to see how high I can go. A couple spots I go in the gorge that end up a bit dirty because of current or spawning activity I can jump up to 12# Max and still get aggressive eats. I've had fish wrap in the cattails and still get them out because of the big tippet. Of course, that changes post-spawn and cleaner water.Seems like the real limiting factor for you is a heavy enough leader to do the job while not being so big they won't bite because of it. The carp I go after have proven quite leader shy.
But this 10wt spot is always clear water so yeah, the tippet is always a gamble. 12# fluoro is probably what it will take, but we'll see.
It's not so much as slamming the brakes to avoid the wood, but having a rod that can maybe pressure them harder and sooner so they never even get close to the wood. Also, this is like the 4th or 5th priority of this future 10wt. The real priority is permit, reds and roosters. I'm in no hurry since no trips planned. The local 10wt spot will remain my 11wt spot.
From the input here (and my research) the Boost Blue is definitely staying on the list. And from my research, the Blitz is staying on the list.
The Blitz also stays on the list because I can get a great deal on it.
Any Redington Predator/Predator Salt users out there?
