The fiberglass inserts I got online don't seem long enough to give me confidence the rod won't break at the grip/reel seat junction (blank is too thick for a reel seat so I need the insert). I'm thinking of using a longer solid bamboo insert from a section I discarded for an earlier grass build. It would fit well. Does anyone see disaster in the future of these 10 and 12 weight rods with bamboo inserts for the reel seats and a fighting butt? These will only be personal use rods.
