    Stillwater indicator line

I had the same thought, but they’re long discontinued and it seems sierra has finally run out of them. MPX is the new version.

Fort Stevens is worth a stop and some exploring.

    Fish and Culverts

I agree with you. In case it wasn’t clear, I was being facetious about that, because there are a lot of recent famous examples of lying liars lying about numbers.

    Fish and Culverts

The scientists and engineers designing and monitoring fish passage projects are not making decisions about, nor are they usually even involved in fish harvest management in any meaningful way. Those are different groups of people, and I also don’t think it’s fair to ignore or at least not...

    Fish and Culverts

There’s simply too many other variables in an anadromous fish life history to say that reconnecting habitat X will result in n number of fish. It’s just not how it works. These projects are about reintroducing the opportunity for the habitat to support fish again, and it’s because scientists are...

    Western Montana with friends

Good ol’ summer trouting! How was the dry fly action? PMDs? Sallies? Caddis? Terrestrials? I hear ya on the moving dates earlier on the calendar to find the sweet spot at the end of runoff. I think it’s a wise move.

    Fish and Culverts

The habitat reconnection resulting from the state-led culvert replacements may not result in a single additional fish available for Washington anglers to kill and eat. But it might just keep some species in our state from being extirpated, locally anyway, for a while longer. The alternative is...

    2021 North Idahontana part 1

Yeah mostly as a dry, using silica powder to dust it up. As a magic hour fly I’ll often use it as the second fly behind something more highly visible and less fussy to keep afloat. It works sunken but I think it’s better as a dry.

    Favorite Caddis patterns

I don’t know if they take it is a spent adult or an emerger but this CDC and peacock and bit-o-flash thing in this post works for me when the good ol’ EHC or x-caddis just ain’t cuttin’ it. https://pnwflyfishing.com/forum/threads/2021-north-idahontana-part-1.396/

    NFR Data Centers near you?

You should just do it anyway! After all, permits, like taxes, are for suckers and stupid people. “I’m adding energy to the grid! So sue me!”

    Coffee talk

That's why I order a bazillion varietals. I focus on descriptions of acidity, brightness, tropical fruits and lemon etc. but always sprinkle in some talk of cocoa, nuts, earthiness and a li'l funk. I just did a big re-stock from Sweet Maria's. Their prices seem not to have gone up (yet) as much...

    Coffee talk

Reminds me I need to roast some for my morning Aeropress. I've got a wet process Sumatran going for espresso that is the shizz, sort of unexpectedly I have to say.

    Sudden Ending....

Heck, you tried! And succeeded! And kept everyone safe. I thought it was possibly going to be an even more harrowing tale given the preface. Thanks for the report and good jerb, Dad.

    Summer trout games

I have a bit of a report from the last planned out framily camping trip of the summer. I grabbed a little fishing here and there over a long weekend. No kids wanted to join me, go figure; they were having too much fun running wild in the woods, riding bikes, going feral. But I wake up early and...
