Went on another pelagic trip out of Westport on Saturday. Lots of great birds, including two Scripp’s Murrelet (no pictures unfortunately) which are quite rare to see this far north (and that was a new bird for me!)

8x42 is pretty standard for birders. Budget plays a big roll in what you end up getting. Some good reviews here, though it’s a bit dated.

I have a pair of Nikon Monarch M7s that have been great for me.
Also, if you’re in the Spokane area, they raise some of the best lamb to cook/eat. It’s my favorite meat to work with.

Visited my friends farm in Spokane this past weekend for a hoedown. They had someone come in and cook a whole pig over an open fire. It was unbelievably good.
Scored a last minute open seat on a pelagic out of Westport yesterday. It was a beautiful day with lots of birds (we saw over 20k Sooty Shearwater). We did have turn back several hours sooner than expected due to some floating rope getting caught in the props, but they were able to get one of...
Got a lot of birding in this past weekend. Heard a lot more birds than I saw, but that’s how spring goes. Here’s a few that I did manage to photograph.
We had a flock of Evening Grosbeaks visit our yard this week for the first time ever. They quickly found the feeder and generally made a racket. It was a really fun surprise!
