    Fire starters

I buy ones called Super Cedars from the factory in Mukilteo. They come in wafers that look like raw hamburgers. They are scored to break into four pieces. They work great, but they are more costly than the Rutlands. Thanks for the tip. I'll give them a shot next time I'm in the market for more...

    Wallowa Lake question.

I too fished the lake at the inlet once. Maybe 8-10 years ago. I drifted a prince nymph in the waning current from the stream and caught quite a few. I was in a boat but I think it would be doable wading from shore. The water was only a few feet deep where I was anchored.

    Is this where it’s headed

I was camping once at Sun Lakes SP with two of my kids. There was a group of three young guys and a young woman with a baby camped nearby who stayed up drinking and blasting music until dawn. I asked them to turn down the music and they refused. Middle of the night I heard one of them start up...

    NFR B-17 Bomber

I was working in the yard last weekend and heard the distinctive sound of its engines. Only managed a glimpse through the trees.

    The original knife thread.

I have a small buck lock back pocket knife I have had for 20+ years. About a year ago I was reclined in my Lazy boy and it slid out of my pocket and down the side of the cushion. It is somewhere inside the chair but I can't find it. I even turned the whole thing upside down. Frustrating

    Non-Fly July 20th meat haul

Wow! A memorable day for sure, and a long one at that. I have never caught or eaten petrale sole. They are bigger than I would have expected. Are they similar to halibut?

    Moving to Sacramento

I grew up in Sacramento but have not lived there for almost 40 years. Growing up, my friends and I used to ride our bikes to the American River. I caught a lot of trout (1/2 lb steelhead), stripers, and the occasional bass and shad. My favorite trout stream was the S Fork American River up by...

    NFR Rats.... @#$%ing rats.

I have had a mole population explosion in my yard this year. I have not found the traps to be very effective. I'm thinking about trying the smoke bombs.

    NFR Rats.... @#$%ing rats.

I have been at war with the rats in my yard for many years. I have wood piles, a nice veggie garden, nearby woods, and chickens, all of which attract rats. I used to get them inside my house on occasion, but exclusion efforts fixed that. Make sure your crawlspace entrance is sealed tight. For...

    Annual Columbia gorge trip

Awesome report. I happened to be in Goldendale this weekend but didn't do any fishing. It was plenty hot. I did pick up some cherries at Gunkel's on my way out of town.
