The original sharkskins had that problem but the change to the more subtle textured lines don't seem to have that problem for me. The sharkskins grooved chromium guides on a rod but not so much that I couldn't sand them smooth.

I switched from Big Game to Prospec. Prospec stretches easier in cold weather which is a big plus for me because I use relatively small arbor reels Pflueger Medalist 1496 1/2 and 1498 most of the time. I use 30 and 40#. I do also like the Lazar line, which stretches easily and stays that way for me.

I believe the Cortland Sylk is true to standards and come sin DT and WF for $70. I use them and like them, very supple and comes of the reel uncoiled.
