What would you like to see restored before you die?

Heard a lot about the B's running up tribs of the Clearwater, would like to see that.

Life getting in the way of fishing... sigh

That is great advice. Every season offers something fun to do outdoors.

    Pike Minnow Season Opening

yeah, I guy I used to work with banked his bounty for a couple of years and paid cash for a F150. It was his second job.

    Hot Sauce

Well I am a fishing nerd, just glanced at the title and thought this thread was about reel oil. But I also love spicey food and good hot sauce, so now it just made me hungry!

Hilariously overpriced used item listings around the internet

No kidding. Saw a used reel sitting on another site for the cost new. Unbelievable

Old fishermen w// bad eyes, do you prefer polarized readers or a separate pair of readers?

I have sunglasses with progressive lenses. I have been using them for years with no problems wading or walking. But my normal glasses are also progressives so I am used to moving my head as needed to see what I need to see. I tried bifocal sunglasses years ago and they were awkward after using...

    Curious. Best integrated spey line?

I have that rod, it may be my favorite two-hander to cast and fish. To the OP, the Gaelforce are nice, although it was common to chop the running line and some of the back taper off of some of the older ones. But I have only used those for 7 and 8wts. I have had great luck with the SA heads...

What credit card do people like

^^^^ This is the best advice you can get. We have three rewards cards that we pay off each month. One is best for groceries / gas / streaming, a second for everything else. The third one is the Amazon Visa. Everything in the household goes through the first two cards. We are not into...

    Water temp problems with Garmin

Nevermind, had a chance to really give it a good look today and the cable housing is nicked about 2 inches up from the transducer. Cut through the housing and one of the wires inside. Wonder if I snared some fishing line or something, because it is a clean cut.

    PFDs you'll actually wear

We were out at nrs today and the new Chinooks are very nice, and the previous model was marked down. I have an ancient Chinooks I still use in my pontoon and float tube. Use a mustang in my big boat. Also checked out the new oxbow and boundary. One thing about NRS, they build their stuff...

    Water temp problems with Garmin

I have a Garmin setup on my boat. Took it out for the first time this year and GPS was great, sonar was working great, was marking fish, but it was not providing water temp. Can the temp sensor on these things fail and everything else work just fine? It is a four-year old EchoMap UHD 73sv...

    Replacement for Subaru Forester?

Yes, we did replace the head gasket. My wife got on the phone with them and would not let up, and ended up with a 'credit' that paid about half. Great cars.

    Replacement for Subaru Forester?

Great thread. We are looking at replacing my wife's 2010 Forester. We were holding out for the new Forester hybrid but my guess is that the price of those may push them out of our range, what with all of the recent changes. We live in eastern wa so snow is a big deal, and she is on dirt and...

What have you done for your boat lately?

I have a West Marine Starting 1000 for starting. I ran the electronics off of that last year but this year I bought another battery for that so I would not drain the starter.

    Wiring up a Garmin

Hi Dave, I am rewiring all of my electronics now so have the manuals in front of me. The blue and brown go to a NMEA 0183 network. The previous owner of my boat had the plotter and a VHF radio hooked to aux switches on the dash and they ran off of the starter battery. They would both restart...

What have you done for your boat lately?

In the middle of a big battery / power makeover for our little 19' jet. Inherited the wiring from the previous owner. My fishfinder and radio would both reboot every time I turned on the ignition. Plus, age is catching up with my back so switching to the LiFePO4's for my trolling motor. Three...

    Patagonia warranty service report

Yeah, nothing but positives from me on Patagonia gear and their customer service. I switched to their waders after a new pair of Simms leaked and Simms tried to tell me it was condensation. I have the Foot Tractors with the bars. They are heavy suckers but I do not notice it when fishing...

    LiFePO4 Batteries

Made the jump, two 12v on the way for my trolling motor. Plus a new onboard charger with enough drops to charge everything.

    LiFePO4 Batteries

This thread has been great. I am getting ready to upgrade my setup. The previous owner installed these https://www.cabelas.com/p/connect-ease-24v-trolling-motor-connection-kit-with-onboard-charging in my current boat. Is there any reason I could not use them for Lithium batteries? I see...

    LiFePO4 Batteries

Really great thread. I have two big 12V deep cycle I am using for my trolling motor, and two Trojan 6V I use for our trailer. All four are very heavy. My back really wants me to check out the batteries in this thread.
