Advice for Fernie BC area "classified waters"

Never fished Fernie, but North Idaho may give you a similar feel without all the red tape. Silverbow Fly Shop (Spokane) can float you down the Couer D’Alene, but it’s also very approachable on foot. NF Clearwater and St. Joe would round out the trip. That would be my special celebration trip.

    My 5 Year Report

Thanks! Boat was a Key West 1520: I think the hull would have been great as a puget sound fly fishing platform. Unfortunately the old Johnson 2 stroke isn’t allowed on my primary local lakes. Between the cost of a repower + shipping cross country it just wasn’t adding up.

    My 5 Year Report

Crazy to go to C of C and not fish locally, you must have been busy on King street!! Heat and humidity have been wearing us down for sure. The boat/pool/beach made it tolerable for brief moments, but any yardwork/chores/auto and boat projects have been miserable. There is more in my pot than...

    My 5 Year Report

My wife and I moved from North Puget Sound to the SC Lowcountry 5 years ago- to stretch our legs and freshen our perspective, no connections nor expectations. Youtube had me excited to chase redfish, she was eager for some sunshine, and that’s about all we had to go on. My fishing evolution...

Totally agree. Always a little curious when a boat is listed right after a repower, but I would also presume the hull was solid enough to warrant the $$$ repower in the first place. Ya never know.

Man, the market seems so much different than coastal SC. I picked up my boat the day it was listed on Craigslist 3yrs ago, and it sold within 3 days of me listing last month. Similar with most of my neighbors, easily bouncing between boats every couple years as families grow or priorities...

So cool! Heres the boat for thread context: Really similar to my key west 1520 CC that I just sold, I think it would be an awesome PS fly fishing platform

    Boat Positioning for SRC

I’ll add another question to the thread then, favorite anchor style for this sort of fishing? Assuming 16-18’ boat, mixed rock bottom. Fluke/danforth?

    Boat Positioning for SRC

Curious to hear from those chasing beach-oriented SRC from boats. Is the spot-lock trolling motor the only practical way to effectively position a boat for these fish? Are you ever able to just drift at an appropriate pace/distance to cast? Do you ever anchor/stake out at a point or creek mouth...

What have you done for your boat lately?

I sold it! Owned it for 3 years, great first boat down here in the SC Lowcountry. Did a full rewire, trolling motor setup, lots of trailer work, in addition to the typical annual maintenance stuff. Learned a bunch and it put me on my fair share of fish. Although mostly used solo, my last...

As the weather starts to improve, who is daydreaming about fishing‽

Here in the Lowcountry, we are lucky to continue fishing through the winter in relatively mild weather. The redfish school up and leave the summertime grass flats for low tide oyster bars. The water clears, fish are spookier and less aggressive to feed, but the change up is welcome after a hot...

    Launching at Cornet Bay

Following, also curious. Like everything with small boats, probably depends almost entirely on tide direction x wind direction.
