    Nets?

Great looking nets. As a gear whore, I’ve got too many, Brodin’s and Fishpond. I picked up a Fishpond Emerger for backcountry float tube trips. It seems like it may replace the mid length for Shad season. Net up, handle down. I’ve used Nylon, zip ties, etc, splurged the other day on the...

    Classic reels

Maybe we need to resurrect the “tomes” thread.. There’s not much better than a good book or a new one to add to the library.

    Switch Rod or Not?

Just a thought, I’ve got a 10’ 6wt tfo rod that I use as a boat/float tube, indicator and single hand spey rod. It might be just the ticket for SRC. It’s a great Shad rod.

The upside is, I was going to send a rod to Dennis Stone to change out the reel seat and I procrastinated last week. Now he gets two. 😆 Dave, This is the angle I was working at. Probably dropped my elbow when I went to net him.

I thought he was played out and went to net him, he made a big powerful lunge and crack and snap. Bummer, I was trying to be cognizant with my angles and how I fought them, so I wouldn’t over stress the rod. I’ve used the 8642 on half pound steelhead successfully, so I wasn’t too worried about...

So for months, I’ve been itching to fish my 8642 Granger Special in the float tube. Great day, some big hot McCloud Bows to hand. And then the oops, trying to net the last and best fish of the day. No more bamboo out of the float tube for me 😁🙄

    Small Waterproof Hip Packs?

The OPST is nice, fairly basic. The belt on the Fishpond is much nicer. I added a cheap water bottle holder.

    Buying your first Bamboo rod

Zoran, Have Dennis Stone build you a 8’ 4wt Hollow Storyteller in his original configuration, that works great with a 5wt line. It’s a lighter, smoother, faster action rod than the 4/2 Cascade you had.
