My skills are pretty basic. On the water I use: improved clinch knot, nonslip loop, surgeon’s, (last and least) perfection loop. When tying at home I add blood knots and nail knots, for which I have tools.

Took this on the way to the river this morning. Unaltered phone pic, but it seems the orange might be a little oversaturated. It was quite pretty though.

Regarding hoot owl: I thought about this a bit and tried to get good data that I could really say "Look at this!", but all I came up with was an almost universal conclusion that catching trout in warm water leads to higher mortality. I think pretty much everyone in the field would agree with...

I tried to go back and catch one on a cottonwood fly, but they seem to have all gone on vacation. This is what I use as cottonwood seed. Basically just scrap feather material, maybe with a foam post, ginked up a bunch. When they eat on the surface, it looks to me like a miniature Hollywood Bowl...

There was a story on the Westfly site a few years ago where John Montana and his buddies saw a sturgeon while fly fishing for carp on the Columbia. They hooked it and landed it. It was incredible.
