    The Mountain Bike Thread

Yeah, the main reason why I got the bridge club is it is made to carry stuff! What tires did you put on it? I'm looking to get a new set to run tubeless. Anyone else have recommendations for 2.4"+ tubeless tires for out on the Deschutes or John Day would be appreciated.

    Bad cold or something viral

The whole family got Flu A last week, do not recommend. We get the flu shot every year, but supposedly A is the strain that mutates most frequently.

    The Mountain Bike Thread

I just got a bridge club a couple months ago, I've got racks for front and back, how do you transport your rods? In the tube? I'm wondering if I can rig some sort of tube off of the fork hardpoints to carry a broken in half rod.

Inexpensive bulk fly box for hairwings?

Which model is that? Cool fly, btw!

Inexpensive bulk fly box for hairwings?

I've tied and amassed a gross or two of summer steelhead flies (hairwings, muddlers, soft hackles) and I've decided I don't like the "giant hairball in a drawer" method for the flies that haven't made the cut in my working box. Trying to look for a larger box that won't crush hackles and wings...

Water Levels This Summer Could Be Slim

I know it's not looking good but... Aren't we still doing better than 2015?

    Small Waterproof Hip Packs?

I seem to be heading towards the small fishpond one. I'm surprised that no one on this board has found a more "direct manufacturer from China/SE Asia" analog. I'm going to try and find one.

    Small Waterproof Hip Packs?

I like to go minimal when I hit up local waters, but a few spots require a walk in. I can usually go pretty minimal, just having a tip wallet, tippet, and a box of flies in my waders, but I always wish I had a water bottle and another box of flies or a jacket stuffed in there since I can be...

    Hook Design = Effect

I bet they used those hooks because they were just looking for a bigger canvas to work with. A 3x or longer streamer hook is not optimal for hooking and keeping a fish hooked, but I bet it wasn't a problem when double digit days for salmon or big trout was not uncommon.

    Arctic Char

A few of the bougie grocery stores like whole foods and trader Joe's were selling frozen arctic char for a while. It was really good.

    Neoprene Waders?

They are awful compared to a good pair of breathables, but I still have nostalgia for them.

Sink tip choice? Multi-d vs T-stuff.

People like the SA tips. Does cortland make two-hand lines? It doesn't look like it.

Affordable places you would actually want to live

It's already been mentioned, but around Lake Superior is way off the radar for most people. The PNW is the place to be, but if I had to move somewhere else, Superior area would be my choice. Duluth is your larger (but still not big) city, and small towns up the Minnesota coast. You just gotta...

    October Caddis in the Flesh

I saw a couple yesterday on the D. I think temps have been a bit warmer than average, so maybe that's why they are still around.

Not just local fly shops are closing (not that Orvis is anything but a clothing store now)

They have always had excellent customer service and know their stuff. I also don't really buy from them anymore mostly because orvis is the furthest away fly shop in PDX (and they stopped sending me those discount cards), but my formative years were outfitted with Orvis stuff in the 90's and...

    Cowlitz Hatchery Sea-Run Cutthroat.

I fished this pretty frequently the last few years. Unfortunately missed the "good 'ole days". Mike told me that there was some pond that they raised some of the cutts, and those pond fish came back pretty big. I swing all kinds of flies for them, but my favorite is a smaller october caddis...

Back up reel is perhaps better

The glory days of STP. Pick up a heavily discounted Bauer reel, and get another 10-20% off coupon on top of that.

Secondhand Reel Service- A Qualitative Analysis

Earlier this year, I bought a Bauer CFX drag reel on an online marketplace and when I got it, it appeared to have been marinated in glacial silt for a while. The clutch cover wouldn't budge, and the clutch itself would slip. I sent it to Bauer/Winston in Montana, and got a call from the person...

    Is this where it’s headed

Turtlebox® "Because other people aren't annoying enough..." On second thought, maybe I will get several of these and whenever I hear another bluetooth speaker, I'll just turn them all on and blast some grindcore.

    New Study: Deschutes River

I'm willing to concede that the increased flow at the top of LBC is good for salmon smolts. That makes sense. I'm just tired of the tower proponents acting like it brings the river almost back to it's natural state. The Deschutes and the Crooked get backed up behind reservoirs, drawn for...
