Square tail or forked? Beautiful fish!

About time they got to him. Purdy is one slippery dude. Minus his heroics, this game is even uglier, hard as that is to imagine. I think we're finally seeing the Hawks at their absolute best, and it's pretty damned good.

Of course. Solid query skills, though.

How did you have time to put together that masterpiece so fast?

Bummed that Charbonnet may be hurt, but I love seeing more Kenneth Walker. He's looking very good tonight.

Nah. He's still got plenty left in the tank... or is it plenty of games left to tank???

I also get it during salmon season, and in my case, it seems to come from downstream hooksetting while bobber fishing or fishing heavy streamer lines. The worst is a hearty set into a stick or rock, but big fish and heavy lines create a lot of resistance. Strip setting helps in avoiding it with...

I don't like the prospect of the Hawks potentially having to face both LA and SF again, but I was pulling for the 9ers in this one. Tough win! The NFC West has 3 of the 4 remaining teams in the NFC, proving it's the toughest division in the NFL, yet again.

I don't bring 'em on boats (don't want to lose favor with any buddies with boats), but I eat them before fishing often, and I don't think they affect my success rate much. As has been said, sone days are just better than others.

The treaty tribes say catch and release fishing is playing with our food. They might be right at the end of the day, but that WDFW calls steelhead "sport" fish while the tribes consider them food and kill every one they can catch points out a key fallacy of the "co-management" paradigm. Crazy...

Furled leaders are good for dry fly and streamer fishing, but for nymphing (especially with a bobber), I tie my own leaders. Gives you a lot of control over your tapers, which is helpful in balancing your leaders so they cast better (a relative measure) with indicators. Most indicators won't...

Or drag a big dry around on the surface. Might not work, but it's fun when it does.

No matter the brand, I have issues keeping a bottle going over time. I have learned a few tricks (using a bodkin to spread glue and keep the bottle neck clear is a good one), but if I don't use a bottle for a few weeks, it's usually trouble of some sort. The thing that always blows my mind is...

After a few years of doing a fair amount of traveling to fish, saving for a wedding and getting more serious about doing the same toward retirement will keep me mostly home-bound this year. I guess that makes my goal doing my best to get out as often as possible and make the most of what's...

My overall takeaway from trying to find DIY fishing in the Keys has been sort of similar to doing it around here; lack of access to productive water and crowding in the available spots make it challenging. Additionally, the enormous amount of water, only some of which is productive, make it hard...

Man! They just refuse to put this thing away. How often does Myers miss 2 in one game?

I'll take that every time!

Now THAT was a huge pick.

A lot more.

Anyone else get the feeling the points NOT being scored are going to become a problem at some point tonight? Sure hope not, but....
