Be praying for you Albula. Curt we need to hear more about your BC trip!

I've been visiting the high lakes Bob Hierman talks about in Snohomish My Beloved Country. This lake with maybe the clearest water I've ever seen is approximately 7 miles one way and at 3,700 feet. I carried in a phillipson 8'6" 5 weight bamboo rod and some classic wets. Heirman talks about...

Slide Enjar Whale Arrowhead has been on my list for quite some time now. Would make a terrific adventure. In high school my boy scout troop took the Lady of the Lake up to Holden and we started hiking and 75 miles later came out in the upper sauk drainage. Caught a really nice fish in Image...

Epic report Phil. I have looked longingly on the map at the lakes your visited. You need to connect with @jeradjames to brief him on the first lake you fished because I think he stocks the lake for the hi-lakers. I've had the same experience as you with goldens. Had to drop down to a size...

My friend Leonard, the Publisher of Wading List, has a saying, "David, sometimes cheap is expensive." I used to buy mid priced waders from Cabelas. The quality has nosedived and I gave up on them years ago. Couldn't get get a season's use out of them before they start leaking. Bought a pair...

Your lake drains downstream into a lake which has a population of browns, brooks, cutts and kokanee. Not surprising that some of the browns have run up the connecting river to the lake you fished. I read that a fall spawning survey reported a 30 inch plus brown in the connecting stream.

I could fish year around for all species with different sizes of Hare's ear wet flies. Size 1/0 to size 18. Also maybe a few dry hares ear or parachute hares ear when I want to fish on top.

Visited Twisp for a few days. After a slow morning on the Methow River we went into the foothills to avoid the heat and the innertube hatch. The creek was cool but not so much that wet wading was uncomfortable. I fished a granger 8040 Victory, Cortland Sylk 4 weight double taper on an old...

"Let's go back to the lake in the rocks" said my wife, so today we went back to the lake in the rocks with some friends. The climb in is steep as ever... A mountain goat looked down on us while we were fishing. Lots of rising fish which were happy to take a size 14 black gnat wet fly cast...

Others have missed that trail as well. :)

It's a lovely small stream rod but I'm not giving my 6'9" Constable and 7' Tom Fulk bamboo rods enough use so I figured I'd sell it. If I lived on a jump across creek I wouldn't sell it.

Sharpes Eighty Five Bamboo Fly rod. 8’5”. Two piece, 1 tip. 4.8 ounces. Staggered ferrule so tip is longer than butt section by design. Tip section comes with bamboo plug for us when rod is stored. Yellow thread tipped with red. Rated as a 5-6 weight.Rod end engraved 0.4 along top with 173...

That lake has been on my list to visit. How was the road to the trailhead (can sometimes be sketchy) and how was the waytrail to the lake?

6'6" Sharpes Scottie Bamboo Fly rod. 2 piece, 2 tips. 2.6 ounces. 4/5 weight. 5 & 1/2" cork grip. Downlocking sliding ring over cork reel seat. Impregnated cane which is impervious to wet and doesn't need to be revarnished. Comes with original Sharpes of Aberdeen bag and an aluminum tube...

Was inspired by @Tom Butler to do some bamboo blue lining. I fished a 6'9" Constable 4 weight and my friend fished a 6' Winston Little Feller 3 weight. Size 14 Royal Wulffs and Yellow Humpies did the trick. Mostly small fish but this pool produced a surprise on a Royal Wulff... Get better...

Tom, is that a brookie or a bull trout?

Nice report. Classic wets and bamboo. That's what it's about.

The black and blae is a winged black pennell. Golden pheasant tippet tail, black dubbed or floss body ribbed with silver tinsel, black hackle and sparse jay or starling wings. I tuck a small box of size 16-18 flies, including black and blae wet flies in my fishing jacket for calm days and...

Just returned from a 4 night stay at Meadow Lakes Fishing Camp. I fished an 8'6 inch Winston bamboo 6 weight and an 8'6" Tom Fulk bamboo 6 weight. My rodmaking friend Doug Moore made a delightful 8' "Meadow Lake" 6 weight bamboo fly rod using a Payne Taper for the trip. The lodge was full...

I prefer double taper floating lines with bamboo. Flexes the cane better. Also like double taper for swinging wets. Easy to mend.
