Fishing over spooky, pressured, or otherwise well-educated carp.

I fished the Schmoots Clooper this weekend, I again joined Team Airball with no carp in two days. In my defense the total carp caught number was pretty darn low, if not a record. The lake was plagued with wind and cloudy conditions for most of both days, and there was poor visiblity in the...

No, but I'm happy I now have something to blame. ;)

What credit card do people like

I hate 'em all. My daily driver is a Capital One. I chose at the time the one that gave me the highest cash back with no annual fee. It may not be that one anymore. I almost always apply the cash back to the credit balance. It's the same pocket I use for fun stuff, too. And never, ever carry a...

    Fish release tool

My fly club has manufactured and weakly promoted the Runje Releaser (Run-G) for a long time, you can google it and pick it up locally for about 10 bucks. Simple to use, I imagine it works like the other wire loops. It took me a while, but with practice it's pretty easy.

    Wireless kill switch

I fish on my motorboat alone a lot, and the tether to the kill switch is a serious pain in the ass. I'd love to hear reviews of the wireless kill switches anyone is using?

    Personal Health?

It’s been a long crawl back to where I am from where I found myself last fall. And it’s a ways back to where I’d like to be. But each day is another step.

Best adhesive to reinforce level leech pin thread wraps?

Superglue is the choice. Crazy Glue is preferred because it's got a brush applicator. It sounds like Zment does too. Make sure you let it dry pretty good before continuing.

    No more Skagit Steelhead!

From the article: "WDFW’s ability to complete fishery management evaluation plans for Columbia River salmon and steelhead stocks, several of which are listed under the Endangered Species Act and require careful oversight, was reduced, slowing the completion of the plans and “putting the affected...

    Keepin' It Simple Camping Foods?

Okay, easy stuff, but car camping. Rice is good, repackages nicely into nalgenes and cooks easy. Spills in your container don't make a mess and it doesn't attract vermin. I like egg beaters over eggs, they transport well and taste okay to good, especially with cheese and a little hot sauce...

    NFR What Are You Reading

I got around to beginning Headwaters by Dylan Tomine, which I got for Christmas. Yeah, well, I got halfway through last night. Really, really well written, IMHO.

    Chopaka's Evolution

I understand the owner of the private land at the south end of the lake passed away recently. I for one appreciate his forebearance allowing multitudes of anglers to camp and fish there. I hope whoever manages that property and road access continues...

    NFR Cougars

Staking claims years ago in eastern Nevada. Surveying and posting a line out from the truck several miles. Walking back to the truck down the line, I noted cougar tracks in my boot prints. It still makes the hair stand up on my neck. I'm with Curt. I love wild stuff in wild places.

Boy oh boy, ain’t that the truth.

They have finally invaded small rivers

Sorry. But, if you’re gonna support multiple use, you’r kinda stuck with whatever the next guy comes up with. No individual use has priority.

SFR Cool stuff you see while fishing

I fishe a small quality fishery lake in NE Wa recently. One other boat on the lake. In it were a young man and his daughter, she about 3 or 4. Sound carrying over the water as it does, me and Dugan were privy to the entire, constant conversation. Youngster with a million questions, parent with...

So, yeah, I press ‘like’. This sequence of stories is so lovely, detailing in such an eloquent fashion experiences I will never approach, that like button seems so. Fucking. Inadequate. Bless you and thanks for sharing these tales from the far side of the world…

    Decades on the Firehole

I love the Madison drainage in the Park. Lovely flies, great tips, thanks for the memories. My son holds our family record, hooking a 5x7 elk on his backcast with a #14 EHC. We broke him off.
