    WDFW Digital license

My app started showing me the catch card a little bit ago. They must have pushed through a new update. Looks nice now, hopefully I get to put the catch record card to more use than last year

    WDFW Digital license

Weird, I switched to digital as soon as they announced it was a thing, But I'm listed as a paper license holder on the side and in the app. Guess I have another year of wrangling a mile of paper.

Truck campers: Looking for lightweight options that won't break the bank

There are smaller scouts that won't be as heavy, that one looks like one of the bigger ones. Alaskan also makes them small enough and the hard sided pop up seems nicer than the soft sided options in the winter for the popup type. nuCamp makes a smaller ~1600lb option as well. There is the...

    WDFW Digital license

Bought my digital one this morning. Everything shows up nicely in the mywdfw app which I also installed, not sure if I had to choose catch cards in the shop but I did so far so goo.

    a reel that isn't a reel?

I think its worth pointing out that the injected molded plastic one is only $75, the $250 option is CNC milled out of metal.

This Is One "Bad Ass" Lady!

I got checked out on a whidbey beach today by WDFW. When I got home I finally realized why I recognized the name of one of the officers, it was Officer Tank! Wish I remembered at the moment, maybe I could have gotten a picture!

Oregon Ballot Initiative on Hunting and Fishing

Getting things on the ballot in OR is also a really low bar, basically don't need to do anything other than hang out in front of new seasons in Portland for a few weeks and you should get the required number.

    Run Etiquette

When this happens to me its a giant "It depends." If its a hike in run and I see cars at the parking area I try and make a judgement call on how many cars there are, how big the run is etc. Theres a run on the Skagit that a lot of people (used to anyway) like to cross a stream and fish the top...

    Annual License fees 2026-2027

The columbia river endorsement is only needed if you're fishing for salmon or steelhead its literally in the name: https://wdfw.wa.gov/licenses/fishing/crss-endorsement

    NFR Dogs With Food Allergies?

One of my dogs is allergic to grain or at least thats the conclusion we came to years ago after trying process of elimination on all sorts of random things and spending tons of money testing him, we've been feeding him Farmina N&D grain free which is around $120 for a 30ish pound bag, it looks...

    Floating Craft in Oregon

Yeah thats my take from reading it as well. You as a person buy the permit, for yourself, not for each boat.

    Quinalt tribal guides

Interested in this topic as well, its a good location for me inbetweenish the north sound and Portland without being the Cowlitz. I looked and most of the guides seemed to be focused on gear.

    Floating Craft in Oregon

https://oregon.public.law/rules/oar_250-010-0760: Of course they never actually define boat or specify the definition that i see so I'm sure theres some edge case out there.

    Switch Rod or Not?

All of those bran All of those brands are fine. I prefer a 6wt for the beach out here, but a 5wt works fine for SRC. The Echo Boot Blue is a fine rod, throws an OBS great. I second what others have said about the 2 handed rods for beach fishing. I have a Boost Beach, I like it a lot, but...

    Deals at online Retailers

Wouldn't have minded the River Salts in addition to my foot tractors but I'll just use the foot tractors and call it leg day. Even if Patagonia decided to stop reconditioning the older Danner boots the soles are still stitched (and nailed?) on so a cobbler should be able to resole them.

Picked up a second pair of foot tractors so I can have one with cleats and one with rubber soles for using in boats.

    Launching at Cornet Bay

From an observer who hasn't boated there, just fished the beaches: The water is moving once you get to Hoypus point and beyond, but I've seen smaller boats moving around getting crab pots there. At Ala the water is moving on big tide changes but again I've seen smaller boats moving through there.

    It dies with a wimper..

I wanted to go out today but after fishing a couple of days out in Forks and going through the 'fun' of having to drive the long way back and forgetting my backpack at the lodge meant I just didn't have it in me. Time to spend some weekends getting house projects done and maybe sneak back to the...
