How did you end up in your career?

Just not working hard enough to make connections. I’m working in a different field that I’m a lot less passionate about. Happy to share more over DM, I didn’t want to make the post too much about me complaining about my own job so I kept that part brief. I’m currently a field engineer at a...

How did you end up in your career?

I am extremely fortunate to have come directly out of college making good money, even if it is work I do not necessarily love or feel passionate about. I ended up struggling to make connections in the Marine Bio world, I would argue largely due some of my own bad choices. For now I am sticking...

    What in the world man...

I have never seen a trout closure in emergency regs the past 4 years I have been seriously fishing except for when it is under the guise of protecting salmon from gear/flies they would never hit

    What in the world man...

Methow was 68 degrees and ridiculously low when I went weekend before last. Hooked a rainbow in the morning when temp was below 65 but was shocked when I found out how hot it was. Glad I had a slow day and bought a water thermometer for the future

    Smoked Out

See, Instagram hasn't completely ruined this place because I have no clue where it is. Looks gorgeous though, hope I get a chance to do a trip like this before the snow moves in

    Non-Fly 2025 Summer Salmon

Pretty good sizes of wild coho up in possession right now, not at all like last year but lots of 5-7lb fish. 6 wilds and 2 hatchery’s. Hatchery’s were both 3-4lbs, probably resis. Ran a 2/0siwash behind a 7 bead chain set back from a uv ace high fly by one 8mm bead, very few short strikes and...

Funny enough I do have a couple marabou clousers, will try them this coming weekend if they are still around

A day of chasing schools around finally paid off. Must have made dozens of casts directly into schools very close to the boat today, but it felt like nothing you’d throw would interest them. Saw a big pod of large, dark humpys surface and made a cast. Stripped erratically with one finger in as...

I was one of the sports fishermen being a bit of a jerk haha. Did my best way to be out of the way of their actual sets but in hindsight I probably should have just headed elsewhere. I did clearly notice a pattern of them picking up their nets and placing their next set directly in whatever area...

I just reviewed the NOF agreement and it looks like a couple of the boats were potentially poaching- There is no Area 9 AC Net Fishery for pinks, and all the boats at some point were north of the boundary. There is no purse seine fishing within 1000 feet of shoreline, and I saw a boat netting...

Making progress, 0/1 with several follows and rejections at the boat. Probably would’ve had one if I tied my fly with a trailing hook! Tips posted here worked great, and even though I didn't hook up it felt great to see that fish actually liked a fly I tied by myself. Going out again tonight and...

Okay, I think we can confirm my lack of luck with pinks boils down to skill issue haha. This is all really really good advice, I've mostly been doing my coho style constant two handed strips

I think I might be too lazy when fly fishing for them, and just waiting for them to come to me instead of chasing them and casting

Despite my fly humpy disappointment, I had a great day on the water. Gf hooked into a little train holding my fly rod. We relaxed in the sound, dipped our feet in the water, and enjoyed some music all while escaping blistering heat. Pink years are less exciting for me from a fishing...

Not too convinced this years humpy run was a record. Already seems to be thinning out and I saw more fish last season. Also not too impressed with pinks as a fly rod species. I feel like if I could get anything in front of a coho they’d take it. I managed to snag two trout out of a hole that...

I ran into them too! Are y'all forum members? How did you do? Had no luck fly casting from the boat either but a couple schools passed and went 2/4 on the Buzz bomb. Spent the earlier morning trolling for Kings out by Jeff head until I birdsnested one of my downriggers, attempted to run a dipsy...

    Show Us Your Humpies !!!

I gotta disagree, just ate a bright humpy hen and it tasted great with the previously posted fish fry and a curry recipe. I agree with you when they hit the rivers though. I don't even mean "good for a humpy", I mean good period. Throwing on seasoning seems to make the mild flavor more appreciable.

My new favorite way to eat pink- Deep fried in Pakistani Pakora spices. Haven't eaten fish like this since I was a little kid and it made me nostalgic, I'd almost forgotten about it. My mom used to make it with Costco rainbow trout
