    Bad outing for FlyFish Dan

    Good point.

    Coffee talk

I've been trending to using lighter roasts lately. I just finished a bag of light roast Ethiopian beans from a local roaster. Interestingly I started the bag after I returned from a short out of town trip where I drank only Starbucks. (My wife really likes their chai tea lattes.) I use a...

    Bad outing for FlyFish Dan

Thanks, that is what I was looking for. I do agree that it takes less effort to land a big fish with a thick, less-bendy rod. And don't forget that it is the angler applying pressure on the fish as well as the fish applying pressure on the rod. And while we are talking the ability to apply...

    Bad outing for FlyFish Dan

Oh, it is out of respect for the fish. I agree one should use the proper tool for the job, I just don't think that my opinion of the proper tool is something I have to push on others. If you ultimately want to respect the fish, then don't fish for them.

    Bad outing for FlyFish Dan

Oh, I thought it was out of respect for the fish, not the fly rod.

    Bad outing for FlyFish Dan

Rob, explain the physics behind this please. It makes no sense to me. I would say use the heaviest tippet you can get away with. If I have an 8 weight rod and a 3 weight rod with the same tippet, and I hook a fish with 40 feet of line out and I don't allow any line to come off the reel, then...

    Compound Loop: what is it?

YouTube search composite loop and there’s lots there. OPST sponsors some fly tying videos where they show it well. It’s really kinda cool.

New Reg Proposal for a few popular trout lakes in Grant County

Wouldn’t common sense say year round? Not like you have to protect a spawning season or anything.

SFR Outfitter for rafting Middle Fork Salmon

I went on a trip with Helfrich about 13 years ago. Definitely a fishing trip, done in driftboats. And definitely first rate accommodations and food. Beautiful country, amazing the change between Boundary creek launch, and the take out in the main Salmon.

    Really

Is it really any different than the bassmaster classic or even the fly fishing competitions? Fishing to win a prize.

    Recent Orvis rod repair service

I have had my waders patched by them a couple times in the past, again very good service.

    Mount for boat seats, free

That wrench is mighty fine. I was wondering if you would be willing to sell it separately? :D

NFR Horrifying dementia cluster in Canada

But as a retired physician, I am devastated that the Canadian government has not stepped in to continue their own study on these patients, though I have no clue how the Canadian health system or governments function. The Canadian Medical Society should be all over this as well.

NFR Horrifying dementia cluster in Canada

But that is using an "all or none" though process. Just because EV batteries cause some environmental issues does not mean that it causes as much issues. Your logic is that the only thing that should replace diesel fuel is something that is perfectly planet friendly. Certainly anything that...

    Just the tip

I used this stuff on the first rod I built. First time I went fishing in the summer here in eastern Wa the tip came off. Now I use regular epoxy to attach the tips.

Multiple rods on a float tube?

I just tuck all my spare rods behind me, or I have a “side table” that Outcast used to make. I like to have 3 rods typically as I often fish two at a time when I can. Bass fishing is the easiest but then I want a floating bass rod, a floating panfish rod, and some type of sinking line. For...

    Lake Hoot Owls?

If you are talking about rainbows that are put in a lake yearly by WDFW where they will never reproduce, I'm not sure what you are protecting by shutting down the fishing. I get it for streams that aren't routinely stocked with invasive species.
