Your lake drains downstream into a lake which has a population of browns, brooks, cutts and kokanee. Not surprising that some of the browns have run up the connecting river to the lake you fished. I read that a fall spawning survey reported a 30 inch plus brown in the connecting stream.

I could fish year around for all species with different sizes of Hare's ear wet flies. Size 1/0 to size 18. Also maybe a few dry hares ear or parachute hares ear when I want to fish on top.
