Strange, weird or odd or whatever beach finds thread….

I may drive up to Seattle to participate. Since this morning: 1. I woke up to find a sticky note that the washer I fixed a couple of months ago went kaka again. Took it apart and ordered parts. 2. At my daughter's request, I removed the plastic cover to the bathroom vent fan to clean it and...

    NFR Humor (No political jokes)

Determined by the amount of "cleansing prep" needed for an average colonoscopy.

    Is this where it’s headed

    Like a short overhead AR-15 burst? 🤣

    What are you listening to?

They can certainly leave an impression. Back in 1979-80, A US Army 5-piece rock band played Toto's Hold the Line at Flathead High School. Full uniform. They were fantastic! I'm sure it was a recruiting effort, but it was the best assembly ever. Our family was stationed at a small USAF radar...

    What are you listening to?

Another A US Army band (Pershing's Own) covers Rush's Time Stand Still as a tribute to Neil Peart. Note: there is no drummer in the ensamble.

    NFR 2025 Gardening Growing Thread

Pflaumenkuchen! A German plum cake. I grew up on the stuff and still drool when I think about it. My mother and grandmother both made it when the plums were in season. You might have to consult with an older German lady for her secret recipe. Or, give her a bunch of plums in exchange for a...

Drill some holes in stripping basket or not.

My stripping basket (forget the brand) has eight 3/16" holes -- two in each rounded "corner". Drains well and I've never found them to be a hinderance.

    Hostile Fisheries

Squalitchew beach in DuPont because it is about the fishiest looking beach around here. I always get my butt handed to me there -- even when there are fish seen within reach. To add insult to injury, we usually see the sea lions and seals slapping their salmon silly as if they're taunting us...

    NFR Road Bicycles

I hear ya! That's one of the reasons I'm becoming more and more "gravel curious". Not only are drivers less attentive, they're driving much bigger vehicles. I spend more and more time on bike paths, wide shoulders and now gravel than I used to.

    NFR Road Bicycles

The top picture is my current "plastic fantastic" Specialized Tarmac. It's full mechanical Ultegra 10 speed with my older Ksyrium wheels. It's fast, light, very comfortable and super smooth. The gearing and geometry also accommodates my aging physique better than my previous bike (more on...

    Utter failure. I suck.

One quick easy test for the questionable gasket: 1. Start the engine and get it running at idle (reproduce the rough Idle). 2. Spray the gasket with carb cleaner. Quick squirt on the sections you suspect might not be sealing. 3. If the idle improves or the engine RPM increases, you're sucking...

Kamchatka 8.7 Earthquake; Possible Tsunami July 29

Crescent City was smashed by the tsunami following the big 1964 Alaska earthquake. Not much of the town was spared. Ironically, we were staying in Crescent City a week ago, and then Cannon Beach for the tsunami a couple of days ago. I think the tsunami was trying to get us. Home safe now.

Kamchatka 8.7 Earthquake; Possible Tsunami July 29

We were staying in Cannon Beach last night. Needless to say, the Tsunami advisory got our attention. We checked various broadcast and Internet news sources and decided to head inland a few miles to wait it out for a couple of hours. While we were waiting it out, we kept looking for real-time...

Ahhh, the old wooden spoon. No bruises or welts or real pain, but the sound of the cupped side contacting your butt cheek cannot be forgotten.

    Utter failure. I suck.

Man, the Italians have always made beautiful cars. They are a cut above in the style department. Looks like you may have two of them! Thanks for the explaination. I could wrap my brain around the forward two, but that third one in the valley made me go "Huh?" Nice cars!

    Utter failure. I suck.

Nice! What flavor V12 and vehicle? Also, why are there three coolant inlet/thermostat housings, with one of them in the intake manifold valley? At least there's no friggin' carb... 😉

    Utter failure. I suck.

Don't worry Matt. You get to keep your man card. Like a previous poster said, we've all been there. Carburetors are the spawn of Satan. At least you dove in and tried it. Case in point, in my younger days, I was helping my brother attempt to rebuild the carburetor on his Dodge Challenger...
