Does salmon spawning affect the trout fishing in creeks?

On your next trip out you could try fishing the main river where you will see similar masses of humpies close to shore and in shallow water. There are bull trout, rainbows, and cutts that will also be shallow. Not in high density like others have said, but certainly enough to make the day fun.

    Commander SUP? Why not?

There really aren’t a lot of advantages the SUP offers versus a kayak of other than I already have a paddleboard and am not getting anything else yet. For pink salmon fishing at Lincoln Park you could stay inside the cove where the currents and boat traffic wasn’t bad, but still be far enough...

    Puget Sound

More paddleboard shenanigans today. Fished from 9-1030 at the local beach again. Seems like the mob of people and boats were swarming the river down the way so it wasn’t too crowded. Certainly not as many fish around but went 1/2 on the #6 clouser including my biggest pink.

    Puget Sound

You could also try downsizing your fly next time. Last week I was fishing a standard #2 pink/white clouser throwing at groups of jumping fish with no grabs. I switched to a #6 pink clouser which seems small in hand but immediately had several hookups on it.

    Show Us Your Humpies !!!

Took the paddleboard off the local beach this morning. Lost the first 3 since fly fishing off this thing is sort of a mess. One fish came off when it missed the net and bounced off the board. But managed to land this one before calling it a morning.

    Puget Sound

Fun day in MA9 today. Fished from 530-10am. Was calm the fist hour and then the forecasted wind came up. It was just strong enough to make casting twice as much effort but not quite enough to stop fishing. Same with the waves, grass from incoming today, bigger at times but fishable. Went 7/13...

Intel on fishing streams near Fernie BC or Glacier NP

Fernie is a cool ski town and one of my favorite places. The Elk River is super convenient to Walk n wade, tons of vehicle pullouts along the highway, and plenty of quality west slope cutts on big dries. Elk River Guide/Fly shop is right in town and can point you to some other waters beside...

    Puget Sound

Fished a new to me MA 9 beach today and saw minimal fish activity in the morning without much water moving. Didn’t see a salmon caught and my only action was a couple of sculpin. Saw a couple pinks jump way off but they never materialized near the beach. I also seem to struggle on incoming...

Any pinks yet? Oregon boy has one day to beach fish near Port Angeles

I was fishing a local MA 10 beach yesterday and saw several pinks caught by the gear guys so no reason to think there won’t be pinks coming through MA-9. Plus there’s always the shot at a Coho in the same places.

    Show Us Your Humpies !!!

Fished a MA 10 beach earlier this week which had 20-30 gear fisherman but didn’t see any pinks caught or rolling.

    Puget Sound

Today seemed as good as any to join the forum. Fished the opener for the first time and this will be my 4th season beach fishing. Landed a 2-3ish pound coho first thing which was unclipped and then lost track of how many 12”ers I went through before calling it a day.
