    NFR Finally making the plunge!

For many years I have held the same belief. Now, both the Mrs and I are in our 70s with likely more health issues on the horizon. We both find ourselves saying "If we would have only had a cell phone" for many different predicaments. Some were close to being dangerous while others were...

    NFR Finally making the plunge!

After reading the scam thread I finally made the move to purchase an I-phone Apple 17. We know nothing other than a landline but realize the many times that we could have utilized a wireless phone. We would love to hear the do's, dont's, and the "Make sure you", in preparation.

Does salmon spawning affect the trout fishing in creeks?

Just speaking from a North Central WA point of view, don't rule out the good old "Whitefish". They love salmon eggs and far out number the trout. I have had fun days catching fish after fish on a hunk of yarn tied egg style on a heavy wire hook underrapped with fake lead. Every once in awhile...

Yes. AI has a way of not cherry picking from the left or right leaning conspiracy BS.

Climate change impact on cold water fishing (not good)

There are, no doubt, many causes that are responsible for the decline in cold-water fisheries that were listed earlier in this thread. Nevertheless, the point the of the OP's article indicates that Climate Change poses destruction on a much larger scale. Climate change is also interrelated to...

Aside from longer casts, what are the benefits of a 2-handed rod?

OK, here it goes; you can't cast due to close proximity to brush/trees/etc. and roll casting has its limitations. That said, cast up stream and back cast down stream (wind permitting). I have nothing against spey casting and see great artistic like movements with those that have mastered the...

NFR Take a deep breath before it's too late!

https://getpocket.com/explore/item/the-town-with-the-cleanest-air-in-the-world?utm_source=firefox-newtab-en-us Interesting article on a place that I thought could not possibly exist. We'll, turns out this pollution-free sanctuary is about to meet a sad end.

Saving the Kelp in Puget Sound

Jackson, Mississippi, Burmingham, Ala, St. Louis, Mo, and Memphis, TN remove considerably more. It's hard to blame Otters when behavior like this comes from the so-called highest form of life on the planet.

Saving the Kelp in Puget Sound

"Seems like the simplest answer is to remove the humans, and that isn't happening." I take it, you don't watch the news?

Saving the Kelp in Puget Sound

https://www.sciencenewstoday.org/the-role-of-sea-otters-in-maintaining-kelp-forests Picked this one because it is most recent "July 2025". I do know people who destroy their own houses, property, environment, for countless reasons. You know, "people" the beings that are different from beasts...

SFR I hope this is the end of it!

A bunch of near or above 100 day temps on the way. I hope my AC can moderate with the longer nights! One long-range Weather predictor says 70s/50s are coming. One can only pray. So far our immediate area has escaped Wildfires and for that we are blessed. Sun shades and every other day...

    Awesome Dogs of PNW

Sorry for your loss. I remember posting my loss and "Old Man Jim" saying there was only one way to partially fill the hole that this kind of loss creates - - "find a puppy"

Old fishermen w// bad eyes, do you prefer polarized readers or a separate pair of readers?

My bifocals darken in bright conditions but they are not polarized. I have a pair of wraparound sun glasses that are polarized and fit over the bifocals which I only use on very bright conditions were I should probably be going home anyway.

    Trigger finger

Waterproof, easy on-off, and they work fine on Trigger Thumb as well. Leave them on when you sleep and you might wake up with less pain. Also, be sure to take the splint off from time to time and do some simple exercises. I would also give some ice treatments atry to ease the inflammation and...

    Trigger finger

Went the surgery route once that eliminated the pain and locking. But, never felt like I could grip with the same feelings as before. Fast forward and tried a plastic brace for several months that disallows any bending that might continue inflammation. The brace along with daily exercises...
