    Metolius River hints?

I am a glutton for punishment. We are traveling now back north from California, and 1. I haven’t had a chance to fish, and 2. I want to fish the Metolius again,… no matter how much it kicks my butt, it has done so in the past. So, this time of year what flies are those finicky trout keying...

How many rods have you broken?

I’m pretty easy on my rods. I usually break my guides rods, he doesn’t let me fish nice rods anymore.

1st annual Rogue Spey Clave August 23rd

@#$!@@$# I was near, and didn't even know about it. Up river staying near Gold Hill, peaked about 101 degrees. Not sure I'd want to stand in a river under that sun.

Where were you fishing? Also got on board with a bright slimmer. Also had an Orca pass by, and saw a couple harbor porpoises. Really a cool evening to be out fishing.

Gear Review Outbound Short vs Coastal Quickshooter

Brad, I've used my saltwater lines in fresh water, like Dry Falls. It was the only line I had at the time, Since we targeted fish in the 0-10 foot range in the salt, I would probably do the same in still water. Not sure about moving water, perhaps if it was walking speed... Don't over think...

Old fishermen w// bad eyes, do you prefer polarized readers or a separate pair of readers?

I bought a pair a clic reading glasses years ago and they hang around my neck when fishing. It is a pain to take the sun glasses off, and put the readers on, but hey, cuts down on the bad words trying to tie a fly on.

    Utter failure. I suck.

Hey, make sure the float isn't sticking in the carburetor. You might want to tear that sucker down again, at least open the float bowl, and make sure there nothing hanging it up. Had a car, Le Baron, that had a piece of teflon break loose and gum upped the works in the float boat. Had to have...

My only XP now is a 490. Not minty by any means, was well used by Dad. I’ll carry on that tradition.

    Puget Sound

I trolled the last two days for kings in my little corner of Puget Sound, nada Chinook. I trolled up a rock fish. The last couple years fishing with gear I've pulled up some nice rock fish, biggest I've seen in years around here. Kind of encouraging seeing them rebound. Now I'm going back...

Non-Fly An ode of appreciation to the dirtbag forum

I was a fly fishing snob for a long time. Not a very good fly fisher, but a snob. Then, I learned the way of gear,... again. In my opinion fishing is fishing, conventional or fly, it's all good. I do draw the line on gill nets and dynamite. (Dip nets for sustenance fishing has it's place)
