Any of the NRS Chinook or paddling PFDs like the Ninjas and similar are going to be the best options. Like others have said, if you need to cool off, there's ways to do that without compromising on the flotation.

I think the culprit was my my lug nuts. I put them back on backwards. There's a round end and a flat end. I assumed the flat end goes in and the round end out. I was mistaken. Haven't lost any since flipping them. A common mistake to make apparently.
