    Fly rod storage

I can see another issue rising in the near future. I give Bagman kudos for planning ahead with the 12 empty slots but that only gives him enough expansion room for one possibly two seasons. I am thinking he better purchase a second rod rack from the same company before they discontinue the...

    Buggie’s first fly rod…..

Man, that is such an adorable picture. I agree, making a custom rod for Willow would be a very good thing. Taking her fishing with Poppa Tom would be A Ok with this old guy.

I love it Steve. Buggy is going to kick butt with that stick. Especially when she pulls up in that hot ride.

    Are Pass Lake Browns Gone?

Hell YEAH! I took that picture. The Browns that day went vertical out of the water and came straight down on the surface fly and then took off for the reeds. Amazing theatrics just to eat the bug.

Bristol Collapsible stainless steel fly rod.

Hmmm, Nice carpet. Wow, made of stainless steel. That is crazy. You should load up a line for a cast test. Might be interesting. I found this article that might help. Author Philip Anctil : https://www.fishingtalks.com/nothing-up-your-sleeve-it-may-be-a-bristol-steel-rod-569.html As a...

    Getting Ready

Awesome. I did Hi Hum every year for almost 20 years with a group of WWII vets / Boeing engineers. Funny, we also provisioned in Merrit. One year I purchased the veggies and left them in the parking lot. We never ate better because people on the lake came to our rescue. What a gift. Create...

    Lake Aberdeen

Fished Lake Aberdeen yesterday C & R 10. Typical, Bambooflyguy out fished me. I released 8 on type III full sink with micro leach patterns and 2 on emergers at dusk. C & R way too many northern pike minnows which was a first in my catch record. Hit the ramp around 10pm. Some jerk had dumped...

    Black bamboo “ugly stick”

Steve gave me one of the bamboo sticks to create my own crooked monster. Maiden trip was last Tuesday with a 5wt floating line which casted horribly. Slipped on another reel loaded with 5wt type III full sink. Now the rod was singing. C&R some plants to christen the rod and splashed crown with...

    Splice tape?

Interesting idea. I like that it does not leave any residue. Does it provide good compression? Have not done a splice yet but have fixed a delamination and a couple breaks at ferrules. Bambooflyguy suggested using tie-wraps which worked well on the delam and thought I would use the same process...

    Black bamboo “ugly stick”

Steve let me cast the new stick the other day. Took a few casts to figure out the basic timing and was completely amazed at how well it casted. It was much better sitting back and watching Steve make one beautiful cast after another with that crazy stick. And of course he had to C & R more fish.
